ABOUT JOHN ADDISON

John Addison brings wide-ranging experience to working in the arts, first as a working artist, then studio manager, sales associate and ultimately as a gallery director since 2004. And now with the creation of Addison Arts in early 2025, as a private dealer and art advisor. While his interests in the art world are also wide-ranging, his specialty for the last 25 years is working with contemporary indigenous artists and helping to cultivate their careers.
Addison was mentored by Arlene LewAllen (1942-2002), whose downtown Santa Fe gallery was a fixture in the Santa Fe contemporary art scene during the 1990s and early 2000s. From her he learned the importance of building meaningful long-term relationships with artists and clients alike. It was under Arlene’s guidance that he first connected with many of the artists he still works with today.
At Addison Arts Gallery, (Owner/Director, 2004-2007) and Chiaroscuro Contemporary Art (Director, 2007-2024) Addison presented monthly solo and group exhibitions by represented artists, including three special contemporary aboriginal Australian exhibitions (2010, 2012, 2014) at Chiaroscuro in conjunction with Vivien Anderson Gallery, Melbourne.
Today, as a private consultant, he offers various services, for collectors and artists alike. From sourcing and selling artwork for clients to artist management services that help take them to the next level. Working not only with New Mexico based collectors and artists, but people involved in contemporary genres, mediums and across geographies.
